A Restored Dream in the Heart of Portugal

Jeff and Nídia discovered Quinta Rio Sul in December 2019, drawn to the lush hills of São Pedro do Sul, a region rich with natural beauty, thermal springs, and family history. From 2021 to 2024, they transformed the 120-year-old granite farmhouse, pool house, and 19 acres (8 hectares) of land, blending historic charm with modern comfort and sustainable design. Original features were lovingly repurposed—like antique furniture turned into vanities and custom windows that preserved the home’s character. Even while abroad, they stayed deeply involved, with neighbors helping to document the journey, and donated the original kitchen to a nonprofit building a family home.
